As the academic year is approaching completion, students and teachers of all ages are looking forward to the summer months of rest and creative self-expressions.

What is your creative outlet? The one that you get lost in for hours?

“Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.” ~Dr. Seuss

Whether it is creatively solving your life challenges, gardening, sports or creating innovative products or services, it is a good time (mid-year) to reflect on your goals and directions you and your organization set for this year.

Relax and reflect on what makes you feel happy and fulfilled. Are you using your unique talents, your special gifts?

When you are intrinsically inspired to pursue an idea, you automatically tap into your gifts, talents and self-expression. It comes so easily and naturally to children but adults seem to shy away from consciously tapping into unleashing the creative juices of their minds.

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” ~Maya Angelou

Adults, especially in the workplaces want innovation to keep ahead in their industries, but they are often not aware of the importance of the relaxed states of mind, the senses (see, hear, smell, touch, taste) as the bases of all creativity and innovation.

Creativity is hard to measure, where as innovation can be measured. The difference between the two is focus.

Creativity is about conceiving an idea in the mind and innovation is acting upon it.

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on.” ~Albert Einstein

I encourage you to consciously be aware of the power of your subconscious mind and use the summer months to relax, rethink, redirect your plans if necessary towards a more fulfilling, both creative and innovative work and lifestyle.
